some manual dexterity for pinning the curved pieces together.
basic quiltmaking skills such as piecing, making a quilt sandwich, basic quilting skills and finishing off a quilt.

Tools required:
Soft lead pencil (2B or 4B is best)
Sewing machine
Fabric scissors
Sewing pins
Iron and ironing board
Thread snippers are handy if you have them

Materials required:

Good quality iron-on interfacing (the thinnest you can find) (85cm by 110cm)
Batting (85cm by 110cm)
Backing fabric (130cm – includes binding and hanging sleeves)
Sewing thread in a medium neutral colour (for piecing)
Sewing threads in assorted coordinating colours (for quilting)
A 30cm piece of baking paper (for ironing)
Cotton fabric in a range of colours as follows:
background 1.5m (I used a natural cotton-linen blend)
lightest yellow scrap (10cm by 25cm)
light yellow scrap (15cm by 25cm)
yellow scrap (25cm by 25cm)
yellow ochre fat 1/8
light orange scrap (15cm by 25cm)
light red orange fat 1/8
red orange fat 1/8 
red fat 1/8
red brown fat 1/8
brown fat 1/8
dark grey brown fat 1/4
