Flight: an original textile magpie artwork
‘Flight’ is part of my new mini collection “Magpie Season”. Magpies are my favourite Australian bird (not to be confused with European magpies). I absolutely love magpie song, and I'm not alone. The magpie recently topped the list in ABC's search for Australia's top animal sounds.
They get a bad rap, but if they're not swooping, they can be really lovely company. The magpies that live in our trees fly down to us when we start digging in the garden, eagerly awaiting any juicy worms that we might turn over in the process.
Size: 55cm by 55cm (framed)
Materials: fabric dye, cotton and linen fabrics
Techniques: hand-dyed, piecework, quilting
Finish: the completed textile piece is stretched over a timber frame and finished with a close-fitting floating Australian oak frame (no glass). A sturdy cord has been fitted to the back of the artwork, for easy hanging from a single hook or a gallery hanging system.
Artwork care: Keep the artwork dry. Dust can be removed using a lint roller.
